At Azul our philosophy is to provide you with the tools and knowledge to return home and continue a practice with increased understanding, along with a leaner, more toned and healthy body and a more relaxed and focused mind.
It’s for this reason that we chose yoga and Pilates and that our instructors work closely together to ensure a flow of understanding and continuity for all levels, through the course.
The two practices of yoga and Pilates are both accepted as being amazingly beneficial to our wellbeing, but it can often be missed how perfectly they complement one another.
Both Pilates and yoga are physical practices that incorporate movement with breath as well as increasing our wellbeing and awareness of our bodies through mindfulness and focus.
It is through the more dynamic forms of yoga, such as ashtanga vinyasa and power yoga that the connection with Pilates is most obvious. Both share the benefits of core engagement (know in Pilates as ‘the power house’ and in yoga as mula bandha and uddiyana bandha) as well as the use of wide thoracic lateral breath.
Through the Hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation, we gain focus along with deeper stretching and relaxation, and ultimately an increased control over our breath, all helping to keep our stress levels under control.
I have been a Pilates instructor for many years and, more recently, a keen practitioner of the more dynamic forms of yoga, and find the combined benefits of the two incredible.
The Pilates provides greater core stability and attention to alignment, whilst the yoga offers a deeper attention to active stretching, and a more rounded development of strength, combined with breath and focus.
If you add to this some knowledge of eating correctly for the core, the results will be amazing!
It is from these concepts that our wellbeing program is designed, leaving our guests with leaner, stronger, more toned and agile bodies and a more focused and relaxed mind.
We hope you will enjoy our program.
