Tips for Green (Eco Conscious Travel):
- Choose locally owned tour operators with local workers... Fuerteventura is a melting pot of European culture and Azul Fit hires the best the island has to offer; all of our employees are island residents and though perhaps not Majoreros by birth, they are in spirit and you can't find a team who love the island more...
- Make an effort to understand history and culture
- Learn basic Spanish phrases to enhance your experience... Azul Fit is happy to offer you a list of common phrases ahead of or upon arrival.
- Shop the local markets, be respectful of the price of local handicrafts and encourage the local economy by eating out and buying local, when within your budget
- Bring batteries and anything which is not recyclable home with you
- Walk or take public transportation when possible, there are beautiful beach walks in the area!
- Patronize local restaurants and businesses; avoid chains when possible & within budget- be adventurous and try new foods, you may be surprised at what you like (we will give you a restaurant guide so you can eat out and be healthy at the same time)!
- Engage in carbon offsetting options- Azul has already offset your flights to Fuerteventura.
- Save water, Fuerteventura is a dry island with desalinated water sources- take short showers and use a cup when brushing your teeth, for example.
.... and email us with your own tips for inclusion in this list!
I had a really great time. Thank you and the rest of the team for all your support and help making it such an effortless and relaxing detox. I hope to get out and do it again next year.
