Class Schedule



At the heart of the retreat is our carefully designed programme of yoga, Pilates, meditation and tai chi. Classes take place on our spacious yoga deck in the villa garden or in the indoor studio.

Our choice of classes means you can try something new, experience the benefits of combining different practices and find out what works for you. Alternatively you may want to focus on your existing practice, taking advantage of the opportunity to practise in a small class setting or have one-on-one classes.

Each class is led by a highly qualified and inspiring instructor who is dedicated to their chosen practice and to helping you get the most from each and every class – whether you are a complete beginner or have many years of experience.

Types of classes at Villa Azul 

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is the oldest form of yoga, a discipline created in India about 5,000 years ago. Hatha yoga focuses on relaxing the body and the mind through deep stretching and abdominal breathing.

Vinyasa flow yoga

Vinyasa flow is a dynamic form of yoga which involves moving from one posture to another in a constant flow. This form of yoga builds strength and stamina quickly and requires a certain level of yoga experience.

Pilates

The primary physical focus of Pilates is on building core strength to improve alignment, posture and overall strength. It was originally developed by Joseph Pilates to aid rehabilitation after injury.

Tai chi chuan

Tai chi chuan is an ancient Chinese practice consisting of a rhythmic sequence of movements. It is practiced both for self-defense and for its health benefits.

Meditation

Meditation has many different forms and ways to approach the practice. It generally involves a stilling and quietening of the mind that is deeply relaxing and promotes health and healing.

Class schedule at Villa Azul

The retreat week starts and finishes on Saturday. The classes start on Sunday morning and finish on Friday night. There is a bonus class on Saturday evening for those arriving in time. If you would like to arrive on a different day, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Below is a typical day at the villa. Please note, this schedule does not apply during speciality retreat weeks.

 8:30 to 10:00

Morning class (90 min yoga or 60 min Pilates or 60 min tai chi chuan)

10:00 to 11:00

Brunch 

11:00 to 15:00

Free time for massage and treatments, to relax by the pool, go on excursions, or go to the beach.

Transfers provided three times a week, leaving at 11:00 and returning at 15:00.

16:00 to 17:00

Afternoon class (90 min yoga or 60 min Pilates)

17:00 to 18:30

Evening class (meditation or pranayama) 

19:00 to 20:00

Evening meal

20:00 onwards

Free time for rest, relaxation, socialising, etc.
