At Azulfit, the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff is our highest priority. We continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, consulting trusted sources that include the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization, European Government guidelines, amongst others. We are maintaining this page to share information as the situation evolves. Spain has announced a phased reopening of the country and we remain hopeful we will share retreat experiences with you again soon as the details of this reopening become finalized.
Update from our owner
“It seems hard to imagine anything going back to normal, but now we are beginning to see a glimmer of hope on the horizon…
Although we collectively mourn the impact of this pandemic and all the ways it has impacted us and those we love, we remain optimistic that there will be hope for a return to a ‘new normal’ for our communities and families soon. We have faith that we’ll return to work, join friends to roll out our mats in a yoga session, maybe even share moments together outside or at social gatherings.
And sometime soon, maybe you’ll be ready to travel, and join together with us to play, learn, laugh and grow… And when that time comes, our team will be waiting for you ready to welcome you to our paradise retreat, your home from home.
We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us and joined the Azulfit community through these tough times. Over the weeks, guests have continued to book or reschedule for future dates and we very much look forward to welcoming and serving you all with gratitude and warmth.
Even though travel has been a much-impacted service globally, it’s heartening to see that there is still a demand to reenergize, restore and to retreat with us, relying on the quality, care, and certainty that the Azulfit name represents.
Considering this, we want to reassure you that we do not take our responsibility to serve you lightly. Here are some of the areas that we will be prioritizing as we prepare to reopen our retreat doors and welcome you all.
As we have use of our very own retreat center, we are able to control all aspects of your experience from cleaning, sanitation to measures for social distancing and optimizing your health and wellbeing.”
– Jamie & Karissa, owners & founders, Azulfit
We have introduced new options to provide additional travel planning flexibility and security during this time. If you hold a booking with us anytime in May, June or July and any of the following scenarios apply to you:
- You have travel restrictions in place from your home country
- You have had your flight canceled
- You are an essential worker
- You do not feel comfortable traveling at this time
Please simply reach out to us on email, [email protected] We are offering all guests flexible rebooking through 2021 or vouchers to use when they feel comfortable to travel again.
Enhanced Safety & Standards
We are uniquely able to establish, monitor, and oversee our own protocols for all aspects of retreat life, and are able to a large extent restrict and control any access onto our property and grounds. This helps us to confidently restore and maintain a safe, calm, and relaxing environment.
In March, as the worldwide situation evolved, we developed protocols and implemented them into weekly use. We are committed to making you feel safe and comfortable when you stay with us.
Prior to arrival we will check in with guests to ensure they are in good health before travelling. On arrival, in addition to our normal warm greeting, we will check each guests temperature with a no touch thermometer.
Our cleaning team will now devote more time than before to comprehensively deep clean your room, complying with new guidelines from the WHO. This includes using approved disinfectant products and a more detailed/enhanced protocol for cleaning common surfaces such as doorknobs, handles, countertops, and light switches. We can also provide masks and gloves to you on request. Please reach out to us beforehand if you have any allergies so we can carefully prepare your room with the correct protocol, and also ensure you receive the care and attention you deserve individually.
Food & Dining
Our kitchen team has already successfully delivered fully catered retreats and we are stopping our buffet service to instead offer plated meals presented to you individually to minimise contact. Second servings on new plates will be available for those of you who know and love our delicious meals!
In addition, we will run with lower occupancy in the coming months so we can practice safe distancing, and enjoy our retreat spaces with peace of mind knowing that we are all in this together. As of right now, a phased reopening of hotels in Spain is planned for 8 June with reduced occupancy. If your holiday falls before this date, we have already been in touch with you. If you wish to contact us to discuss your upcoming booking and options available to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we reply the same day as we know how important you are, and we take this very seriously.
Classes & Practice Spaces
We will also limit the capacity of our group classes to meet standards. Sessions will be held outside, with social distancing in place. If indoor sessions are necessary, they will run at the correct capacities, with plenty of ventilation. Personal mats and blankets will be provided for your stay.
We will ask students to not come to classes if they present any symptoms during their stay, including fever, cough and sore throat. This will allow us to care for each individual should any issue arise during the week.
Pool and Hot tub
The swimming pool and hot tub occupancy will be reduced; the hot tub occupancy will be for one guest at a time or for guests who have travelled together in the first phase of reopening. We have a service who regularly check the pool and hot tub to certify their safety.
We have been maintaining the pool throughout at the levels of Chlorine recommended by the WHO: The World Health Organization recommends a chlorination level of 15mg.min/liter; this is sufficient to kill non-enveloped viruses such as poliovirus, rotavirus and coxsackievirus, and an enveloped virus such as Covid-19 would be inactivated at even lower levels of chlorination.
